LIN-SEAL®

ANTI-SPALL PENETRATING SEALER
Reduces spalling and scaling caused by deicing salts, water and other destructive materials.

SEALTIGHT LIN-SEAL Penetrating Concrete Sealer is a liquid formulation of boiled linseed oil in mineral spirits developed to protect and prolong the life of concrete surfaces against over exposure to deicing salt, water and other destructive materials.

Technical Description
SEALTIGHT LIN-SEAL Penetrating Concrete Sealer is a specification-grade formulation of boiled linseed oil in mineral spirits. LIN-SEAL is specifically compounded to prevent the spalling and scaling of concrete. This type of penetrating concrete sealer is recommended by many State Departments of Transportation for prolonging the life cycle of concrete exposed to water, salts and other destructive materials.

Meets maximum VOC content of 400 g/L for Concrete Protective Coatings as required by U.S. EPA Architectural Coatings Rule.

Uses
SEALTIGHT LIN-SEAL Penetrating Concrete Sealer is ideal for application on Portland Cement Concrete bridge decks, parking garage decks and ramps, or any concrete surface which allows the concrete to absorb water, salts or other destructive materials. LIN-SEAL may also be applied on wood to seal, protect and extend the life of the protected wood.

Advantages and Benefits

bulletProtects concrete surfaces against overexposure to deicing salt, water and other destructive materials

Application
SURFACE PREPARATION: Surfaces to be sealed must be clean and dry. Remove all dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds and other substances that would prevent the proper penetration of the sealer.

APPLICATION: Apply at temperatures between 40ºF (4ºC) and 95ºF (35ºC). New concrete should be cured a minimum of 28 days before application. Apply with a hand or power sprayer. Puddles or excess liquid should be broomed off. Annual reapplication may be considered.

COVERAGE: Apply at the rate of approximately 300 ft²/gal. (7.36m²/L). A second application at approximately 600 ft²/gal. (14.73m²/L) is recommended for increased benefits and spall prevention.

CLEAN-UP: Use mineral spirits or other suitable petroleum distillate solvents to clean tools and equipment. Materials soaked with linseed oil (rags, absorbents, etc.) may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, all materials coming in contact with this product should be placed in sealed, water-filled containers.

Precautions
LIN-SEAL IS FOR EXTERIOR APPLICATION ONLY.

HEALTH HAZARDS: Avoid direct contact with this material, as it may cause irritation of the skin and eyes. Product vapors may cause transient central nervous system depression. LIN-SEAL should not be utilized in locations where food items are present. Refer to Material Safety Data sheet for complete Health and Safety information.

LIN-SEAL is a combustible product (flash point 113ºF). Ignition sources should be removed prior to use.

Do not apply LIN-SEAL if the temperature of the concrete is below 40ºF (4ºC) and only after all surface water has disappeared. DO NOT DILUTE. Do not use on colored concrete. Do not use on densely troweled surfaces or on surfaces where darkening of the concrete is undesirable. Do not use on brick, exposed aggregate, stone, masonry, slate, etc., which are not uniform in porosity or have a non-porous surface. Concrete containing calcium chloride will remain dark longer when treated with LIN-SEAL. The specifier and user shall determine suitability of product for specific applications and assume all responsibility in connection therewith.

NOTE: Current use of increased amounts of fillers, extenders or additives in the concrete mix can result in a higher than normal porosity and some very porous hot-spots. To provide proper surface treatment, adjust coverage ratios to compensate for the resulting penetration. Do not over-apply.
