REZI-WELD™
GEL PASTE
TROWEL-GRADE CONSTRUCTION EPOXY
Provides an ideal consistency for cap
sealing, patching and general repairs.
SEALTIGHT REZI-WELD GEL PASTE Construction Epoxy is an easy-to-use, color-coded,
two-component epoxy compound, developed for vertical or overhead concrete
surfaces.
Technical Description
SEALTIGHT REZI-WELD GEL PASTE Trowel-Grade Construction Epoxy is a
two-component, 100% solids, gel epoxy compound designed for general concrete
repair work. It's a high-modulus, high-strength, chemical-resistant and
moisture-insensitive material. The product has a trowel-grade consistency for
filling cracks in vertical or overhead structures.
GEL PASTE is solvent-free and VOC-compliant. Although it has a gel consistency,
it is very easy to mix and apply. This is of great importance when using GEL
PASTE as an adhesive, since it fills all gaps between the surfaces to be bonded,
while a liquid epoxy adhesive might run out and reduce the bond area. To make
small patches in concrete structures, it is often more convenient to use the GEL
PASTE than to prepare an epoxy mortar using silica sand.
Uses
SEALTIGHT REZI-WELD GEL PASTE Construction Epoxy with its
consistency is ideal for patching and general repairs in vertical or overhead
structural concrete surfaces. Also suitable for surface sealing prior to
pressure injection.
Advantages and Benefits
| Patches and repairs vertical or overhead concrete
surfaces
| Fills all the gaps between the surfaces to be
bonded...unlike the liquid epoxy adhesives which might run out and reduce
the bond area
| Easy-to-mix and apply with its trowel-grade consistency
| Offers high-viscosity, high-modulus and high-strength
characteristics
| Resists industrial chemicals and is moisture
insensitive
| VOC-compliant
| Color-coded, innovative, unitized packaging assures
proper mixing of the 2 components
| Excellent bond strength suitable for cap sealing |

Application
SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces to be
bonded must be free of standing water and completely clean of dirt, rust, curing
compounds, grease, oil, paint, and unsound materials which would prevent a solid
bond.
Concrete should be cleaned by light mechanical abrading to form a sound surface.
Vacuum or blow dust away with compressed air.
Smooth surfaces, such as wood require sanding or other mechanical abrasion.
Exposed steel surfaces should be sandblasted and vacuumed clean; if not
possible, degrease the surface and use sandpaper or a wire brush to reveal
continuous, bright metal.
MIXING: Components must be between 60º and 85ºF (16º and 29ºC) at time of
mixing. (See PRECAUTIONS). Stir each component before combining. For gallons,
use a 600-900 RPM slow-speed electric drill with a Jiffy blade.
Do not use high-speed mixing equipment. De-rim containers. Add Component B to
Component A and mix slowly for at least 3 minutes, avoiding air entrapment.
Scrape the sides, bottom and corners of the container as well as the mixing
blade. Place mixed epoxy as soon as possible. Work life depends on the
temperature and the mass.
METAL ANCHORS IN PREFORMED HOLES IN CONCRETE: Preformed holes should be
approximately 1/4" (6.35mm) larger in diameter than the anchor bolt
diameter. The depth of the hole should be 10-15 times the bolt diameter. Fill
the hole from the bottom up, about half way with the mixed epoxy and place the
bolt, dowel or rebar. Top off with more epoxy and finish. Doweling
configurations must be approved or designed by an engineer.
CRACKS IN VERTICAL OR OVERHEAD STRUCTURES: For non-moving cracks and joints, use
a trowel to apply the paste full depth and strike off flush at the surface in a
single pass.
For structural crack injection repairs use a
dual-component gel pump.
PATCHES IN CONCRETE STRUCTURES: GEL PASTE makes a high-strength material for
patching, topping, grouting and repairing spalls and other defects in concrete.
Average thickness of the patch or topping should be no greater than 1/4 to
1/2" (6.35 to 12.7mm) per lift.
OTHER BONDING: To bond cured concrete or metal to concrete, apply a layer not
less than 1/64" (.40mm) to the prepared surface and join together
immediately. No firm clamping pressure is necessary beyond what will hold the
parts in place. When bonding fresh concrete to cured concrete, apply GEL PASTE
at approximately 85 to 100 ft.² per gallon (2.1 to 2.4m² per liter). NOTE:
Cured concrete surfaces to be bonded should be at least 28 days old.
CAP SEALING: Apply mixed epoxy over entire length of crack
to be pressure injected. Ensure complete encapsulation to avoid leaking.
Adjacent concrete surfaces must be mechanically abraded to ensure proper bond.
Allow for suitable cure time prior to injecting.

Shelf Life
Two years in unopened, damage-free
containers stored in a dry environment between 40º and 95ºF (4º and 35ºC).
Precautions
Do not thin epoxy with solvents. Do not use for sealing cracks
while under hydrostatic pressure or spray without consulting W. R. MEADOWS
Technical Service first. Never warm epoxy over direct heat. Warm cold epoxy by
placing containers of cold epoxy into hot water. The preferred method is to
store the epoxy in a warm room prior to use.
The resin and hardener must be between 60º and 85ºF (16º and 29ºC) at the
time of mixing and is not recommended for use when the pavement temperature for
the past 24 hours has been below 40ºF (4ºC). For exterior, on-grade
applications, consult W. R. MEADOWS Technical Service first. Read and follow
application data, precautions and Material Safety Data information.
CLEANUP
Tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately
with Toluene or Xylene. Clean equipment away from heat, sparks and open flame
and avoid breathing vapors or allowing epoxy-containing solvent to contact skin.
Should this material come in contact with the skin, wash thoroughly with soap
and water; not solvent.
